Prague wrap-up

As I told you in the previous post, I still have a few photos I'd like to share with you to finish up my "travelogue" from Prague. I've decided to break them into two groups - this first one will be a few more photos from churches, and then just buildings and architectural features. The last one (hopefully tomorrow) will be just a few random, unrelated shots.

First a few more photos from St. Vitus Cathedral. It's not difficult to figure out that I was impressed with this massive cathedral. The exterior, the interior, the stained glass windows...all of it. So bear with me while I share a few more of my favourite photos of it....

The Golden Portal
The gargoyles (water spouts) ranged from dragons, demons and
scorpions to monkeys and eagles

Look at those pipes!!!! Would love to have heard this organ..

These photos do not do the stained glass
 windows justice... at all...
The Jerusalem Synagogue - very colorful! A combination
of Art Nouveau and Moorish influence.
Schwarzenberg Palace. The stone looks like it is 3D, but it is
actually totally flat - an illusion acquired with "Sgraffito".
This is a technique used for wall decor where layers of plaster,
in contrasting colors, are applied to a moistened surface, then areas
are scratched away to produce drawings. Below are two more buildings
with sgraffito, the second one is on Old Town Square and was the childhood
home of Franz Kafka. It is known as The House at the Minute.
The sgraffito depicts Greek mythology and also references
to biblical and Renaissance legends.

This beautiful doorway was used in the filming of the movie Amadeus.
Most (if not all?) of Amadeus was filmed in Prague.
This Pub was near the Lennon Wall.
We didn't eat there.... should have!

That's it for today. I have been working on this post off and on for 3 days and am having problems with photo loading, spacing and adding captions.  So I'm stopping for now out of frustration. It doesn't look quite like I'd like it to, but it's going to have to do for now... I don't know if the problem is me or Blogger. Maybe both...  Arrggghhhhhh.....

Peace,
Linda

Loving your posts on Prague, Linda. Such beautiful architecture! When I first started blogging I tried to do my post like yours with words on the sides of the photos but I had so much trouble with it that I opted to just do straight words, photos, words. I also went with larger pictures which limits writing beside them. Interesting post!

The photos are amazing. It's hard to imagine all of the details unless you slow down and take your time to look. Sorry you're having trouble with blogger...it's a pain sometimes! Sweet hugs!
