Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all my family, friends and readers who are mothers. I hope you all get "special treatment" today! I'd like to send each and every one of you a big bouquet of fresh flowers, but that's not possible. So this collage of spring flowers is for you, enjoy!

Special Mother's Day wishes of love to my daughter who is experiencing her first Mother's Day! Love you darlin'! With less than one year's experience, you are already an awesome Mom!

Peace,
Linda

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there. I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful day with your loved ones. I miss my Mum daily, I'd give anything to be able to give her a hug right now.  I shared some special memories of her here. Why is it we don't appreciate our mothers the way we should, until it is too late....

Peace,
Linda

Happy Mother's Day

To all my friends, followers and readers, to all of you who are mothers and to your mothers.. Happy Mother's Day! Bouquets to you all!!!

I had good intentions of posting this first thing this morning. However, things didn't quite work out that way. You see, today was my Ladies Choir Concert... I went to bed later than usual last night (which is always quite late anyway) and I could NOT get to sleep. I was rehearsing in my head, going over words, words, words... I'm sure it was after 3a.m. when I finally drifted off.... I didn't hear another thing until I heard hubby say "Are you getting up today?" I responded "Yes...What time is it?" and he replied "Noon". Well I came out of that bed pretty quick... I was supposed to be at the church at 1:15... Needless to say, I did not have time to do a post this morning...
Yes I got there in time, with a  bowl of porridge in my tummy to sustain me until suppertime. The concert went well I think.. one of our better Spring ones, I'd say...

I do hope you all have enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day....

Love and Peace,
Linda

The Gift of Music...

Mother's Day weekend! The days and weeks are flying by! Although we have had some wonderful sunny warm weather lately, it looks like the weekend is going to be wet and cool. So if your plans for a lovely outdoor activity tomorrow have been foiled by the wet forecast - why not attend the Fredericton Ladies Choir Spring Concert? Treat yourself to some wonderful music- what a lovely gift to give yourself. You deserve it! We have been working hard to bring you a varied selection of music- we will sing in English, French, Latin, Hebrew and Mi'kmaq. From Ave Maria to show tunes, from folk songs to some humour - we'll have it all. A beautiful song written by well known Cape Breton artist Allister MacGillivray is my favourite, and the Mi'kmaq Honour Song is guaranteed to send shivers up your spine... Why not join us for a special afternoon? The concert begins at 3pm (doors open at 2:15) at St. Dunstans Church, corner of Brunswick and Regent Streets. There will be tickets at the door, $15.00 each. Come and enjoy the gift of MUSIC. It doesn't get any better....
(Please forgive me for the shameless plug...)

Peace,
Linda

Happy Mothers Day!

Edit: I have had trouble all day with Blogger- photos would not load. So this message is a little late in the day, but nevertheless, the wishes are heartfelt- hope you all HAD a great Mothers' Day!

Bouquets to all you Mothers out there today! The sun is shining here after a dreary week of rain, and another wet week forecasted, so I'm outside today, enjoying the weather!! A good day to start scratching around in my flower beds, finishing removal of the winter's leaf mulch covering. Many of my perennials are up, tulips, daffs and scilla are blooming... yes spring feels good!!
I wish I could visit all of you Mothers and present you with a gorgeous big bouquet today, but I'll have to settle for sending you some flowers from here.... enjoy! Later I'm heading out with my camera to a brook nearby to snap some pics of the Dogtooth Violets I spied blooming in the woods. My next post will take you to M&S Schmalberg's - North America's largest manufacturer of
custom fabric flowers in the garment district of NYC - what a special treat that visit was!

Peace,
Linda

Bouquets to all you Mothers!

Just wanted to say a very Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers out there.... I brought these beautiful blooms all the way from British Columbia for you!! These are photos I took at Minter Gardens in Chilliwack, before I headed to Calgary. More about that part of my trip in a few days... Tune in tomorrow for an interesting story about one of Fredericton's biggest fires, many years ago.

Peace and Love,
Linda

Happy Mother's Day!

"My Mother kept a garden,
A garden of the heart.
She planned all the good things
that gave my life its' start.
She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to dream,
fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem.
And when the winds and rains came
she protected me enough,
but not too much because she knew
I'd need to grow strong and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong;
markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother's garden,
I am her legacy,
and I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me."

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers. I wish I could send you all a beautiful fresh bouquet, but they don't last long, so I'm sending you a few of this kind instead, and you can come back and enjoy them anytime! These beautiful blooms were all found in New Hamburg Ontario. I love flowers, I just can't understand why everyone is not a gardener! My flowerbeds give me such pleasure; every day there is something to look forward to as a new plant shares it's secrets, or new buds unfurl....
Of course there are always "challenges" as well, like earwigs and lily beetles.... yes I know they are God's creatures too... I just wish they'd go live somewhere else! Please read my previous post, written late last night re. Lily Beetles...
Back to Mother's Day.... as we grow older we begin to realize the value of a mother's love and the enormous depth of her committment to us. No other relationship we form can ever be as close or profound as that with our mothers. I was so fortunate to have an exceptional mother; much of what I am today is because of her. I love you and miss you Mum....
Peace and Love
Linda
