Done! Well, almost done...
Here it is! It's not quilted or bound, but I'm anxious to show it to you. So here's the top. I'll continue working on it tonight maybe, although I'm still not decided on how to quilt it. Any suggestions are welcomed...
This piece is from a pattern by George Siciliano, whom I took a class from this summer in Maine (you can read about that here). I liked this design better than the one we did in class, so decided I wanted to do it soon! George calls this Interstellar Suite, but I think I'll call mine f 8. Anyone who is familiar with an SLR camera and knows what f stops are, will "get it"... It is 10" square and has 182 pieces. I'll post another photo when it is complete, with a ruler or something for a scale reference.
Piece,
Linda
Hope your days are filled with rainbows....

That is gorgeous! I knew it was a George Siciliano design before I read your description, his work is so distinctive. Clever name with a double entendre, as our youth would think of F8 as "fate" rather than an f stop. A piece like this doesn't really need much quilting, does it? Sometimes the design says enough on it's own...that's my 2 cents :)
Oh my word, that is so stunning..I agree with Karen. Just the design is so amazing, and I love your colors...
That is amazing.... NJS material?
Thanks for your kind comments girls!! And no I don't think it's NJS material, but thanks anyway! I think I'll quilt it very simply- just 6 lines coming out from center, following the "swirl" if you know what I mean. I'll see how it goes...
Linda, that quilt is just awesome! Simply dazzling! You've done such a beautiful job. Way to go!
Yes, follow the swirl, or quilt the black down so the colours stand up. (this is now my 4 cent's worth... :)
Love it! I thought the swirl lines felt like a natural choice, too.
only one word comes to mind...WOW!!! and maybe ...gorgeous too...
This is BEAUTIFUL Linda! I love the movement and swirls -- it's neat that you want to call it f8 -- because the quilt also looks like the shutter inside the lens...
Haven't been around for a while but glad to see this beautiful piece now that I am back. I just love it. The geometry that he colours are right up my alley. Linda G
Yes Susan, that's the reason for the name- f-8 as in f-stop, It reminded me of the shutter too. Hubby thinks I should call it Hurricane Earl, or Eye of the Storm...
