Family Additions...

After the addition of our grandson three weeks ago, our family has now grown by two more members!! I think we're having a growth spurt! lol The hubs and I have certainly been missing our beautiful Oliver since he passed away last November. There's not a day goes by that we don't think of him and miss his companionship. This week an opportunity arose that we couldn't pass up. A neighbour had passed away, leaving behind two beautiful long-haired cats, so we have adopted them. Well, I guess we're actually on a trial basis right now... we'll see how things go for a week or two. They are a bit traumatized and will take awhile to feel comfortable here. They are used to a much smaller space, so we
have limited them to the kitchen and family room, and basement at this point. In a few more days we'll open up the rest of the main floor, then add upstairs next week, hoping that will make it easier for them to adjust to their new home. One spent a full 18 hours hiding under our couch, but he has finally come out today a few times and seems to be feeling a bit more at home now. It'll just take some time for them to feel safe, I guess, with so many new things to sniff and explore, new sounds and voices, etc. Patience, patience...
The beautiful Miss Ginger above is about 7 years old, and Mr. Scamp, left, is around 4. These are not great photos at all but I'm sure I'll get better ones as soon as they become more comfortable in front of the camera; they are both still somewhat skittish at this point...

Peace,
Linda

Cats are like music. It's foolish to try to explain their worth to those who don't appreciate them.

They are beautiful Linda and I am sure they will adjust nicely. Nothing like a couple of fur babies to cuddle up with. Looking forward to more pics.

They are beautiful, Linda. It took Maddie about a week to adjust, and then he owned the place. How lucky those kitties are to have found such a great home...and how lucky you are to have them. A home needs a cat (or two). They look like quilters too, don't you think? :)

What lovely cats.......I hope they settle in for you, and for them. It's a big adjustment, after all!

What a kindness to your neighbor who passed. We all would hate to imagine our pets abandoned if anything happens to us. I hope that they adjust well to their new environment, and that you are rewarded with affection and entertainment that our feline friends bring into our lives.

They are lucky you took them in. I am sure they will become family in no time. I miss having a cat but we are have committed to not committing to anything anymore. We are of the pack up and go point of life.

They're both beautiful! I'm sure they'll adjust in no time, to love and understanding of their trauma. Thanks for taking them in and keeping them together.

Congratulations. I was surprised when you mentioned how old they are. They both look like kittens.

How nice to take them both! that's one of the things older owners worry about when they have two pets -- will they be able to stay together? I hope they settle soon, once they realize they hit the jackpot for a second time in their lives.

Beautiful Cats!! I'm a dog person and don't know much about cats. We tried to take one once when people could not keep him because he was mean to their new baby. He went under the bed...used the litter box there when there was no litter box and growled the fiercest growl I have ever heard from a cat that wasn't a lion. We couldn't keep him. But I bet these two will adjust well. After all, they will comfort each other.

One of those things that was meant to be, perhaps? At least with two cats they'll keep each other company and maybe one each for your laps!

So much better for them not to have to go to the pound. They are both gorgeous. Hope you all settle in to a long and loving companionship.

Beautiful new additions to your family. I hope they settle in and feel more comfortable. They must be feeling rather lost with their owner gone and getting to know new humans.
