What are you reading these days? Do you have a stack of books stored up for "summer reading" awaiting your attention? I've been lucky lately in finding books at a great price in some of my favourite used bookstores. I even found one which has been on my "want to read" list for a while, in a favourite lunch spot. When I stepped in the door recently I noticed a lovely basket full of books, with a sign reading "Take One, Leave One." Wow, what a great idea! The owner let me take one even though I had nothing to leave. I assured him next time I was there I would bring several to leave behind for someone else to enjoy.
I've already told you about my luck in obtaining many in the Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency series here. These are the other recent acquisitions, two of them on loan from friends. Have you read any of these? Any suggestions for others I should add? I have finished The Pink Suit and A Desperate Fortune, and am currently reading The Boston Girl. Next up will be The Piano Maker. Bring on those lazy days of summer, I'm ready! (Well, I will be once the gardening chores are finished...)
What are you looking forward to reading this summer?
Peace,
Linda
Sometimes I tell myself to stop reading and get things done.... then I laugh and turn the page.

I like your quotation! I'm deep in Donna Leon at the moment. I love her and she's written a lot, always a good point when I find a writer I like.
Love, love, love Louise Penny books. As with any series they are better if read in order. I see you have the first two, Still Life and Dead Cold, APA A Fatal Grace. A Trick of the Light is #7 I believe. I haven't read the others you show but will add to my list of summer reaading.
Pretty sure I have read all those Louise Penny books......but not the others. Might check if our local library has them!
Hi Linda
I read the first two books of The #1 Ladies Detective Agency but my favourite author right now is Colleen Coble and the various series she's written. Most I can get from our library for my ereader and I'm wondering if one of her book suggestions didn't come from you at some time?
Nothing nicer than sitting outside reading.
I've read Still Life and A Dangerous Fortune. I love Susanna Kearsley, but this wasn't my favorite...favorites were The Winter Sea followed by Mariana, and The Rose Garden.
I like the idea of T1L1. We visit the VA hospital in FT. Wayne Indiana pretty frequently. They have a library as well as book shelves that works on that concept. I now take my used books there and anyone else's that want to donate them. We have an excellent book exchange in a city near where I live. Over the years I have used it extensively. Like getting lost in a library.
xx, Carol
Read all eleven of the Louise Penny books as #12 is due out at the end of August. I can't wait. Do read them in order!
