Well it seems once again I am late to the party. I did publish this post (or rather, one just like it ) last night just after midnight. I know it actually published because I got a comment shortly after. When I opened my computer this morning, the post was not there. So I'm not sure what happened... I'll blame it on the fairies.... I've been out of town all day so just getting back to re-post now. My apologies to those who might have tried the link earlier and found no post. Thanks to Donna for removing it quickly this morning.
It's time again for Donna's Personal Photo Challenge. The theme this month is Closeup and/or Macro. I love doing closeup and macro shots but usually I'm doing them in my garden. Since my garden beds are still under several feet of snow, I turned to my archives for several shots.
I love closing in on any flower but I especially love gerbera daisies, in particular their centres. This photo was taken at a local nursery last May. I love its intense pink color - just the punch of color we need after a long white winter....

The next choice was this field daisy, because I love daisies, not because I love bugs. But he adds a little interest, don'cha think? He seemed like a friendly little fella...

And for something different, and because I'm longing for spring and something green, I headed for the refrigerator
(truthfully it was equally because I was hungry!) I chose this kiwi for some luscious green (and then I ate it!)

All photos were taken with my Pentax K20D, hand held, with natural light. The only editing was a little sharpening.
I hope you'll visit Donna's Personal Photo Challenge blog
here to see what other participants have done this month.
Peace,
Linda

The first one has such an intricate center! Amazing! Love the bug and the kiwi is fun. I hope you had a nice snack after the photo shoot! Beautiful photos my friend! Hugs!
So good to have files! Of these, I learned the most from the fruit. It seems that each seed is tethered by a little thread. For sheer beauty, the Gerbera daisy takes top place. Weird about the gremlins...
Lovely shots. Thanks for your sweet comment! I love the bug.
Hi Linda
Glad your post appeared after all that!
Beautiful macro shots - I particularly love the little critter inspecting your daisy!
The 'kiwi' originates from my little corner of the world - New Zealand, so that's kind of special for me too!
BTW I love your header - the smocking is exquisite!

I was glad to take care of the post glitch yesterday for you! The crazy blogger platform must have burped, LOL.
I knew that this challenge would be right up your alley and easy-peasy since it is in your wheelhouse. Love the bright gerbera daisy. It's one of my favorites to photograph too. And the bug on the daisy is cute, despite its creepiness (ha!), especially since some of the petals were folded back to frame it up. And I really like the kiwi macro - great texture and graphic quality! Terrific job on the challenge.
Oooh, these are lovely. I like the off center approach to the gerbera, the flirty lifting of petals on the daisy and the way the kiwi fills the whole shot. Really wonderful! I hope the snow disappears quickly.
the Kiwi is really nice- so juicy looking...hmm... now I'm hungry!
Love the kiwi shot!
Glad you made it to the part better late than never I say! The gerbera daisy is my favorite, the composition and color are just right and just what we need after the awful winter most of us have had. The kiwi looks good enough to eat ;0 !
Your photo challenge pics are really beautiful Linda. I love them all. It's so nice to see the colour. I like that you used a kiwi as a subject. I didn't get the challenge done this month. :( There will be another. Have a great week ahead.
So lovely to catch up with some new bloggers through the photo challenge this month.
Love the gerbera. Very colorful, and yes, flowers are always interesting to zoom in on.
Enjoyed reading some of your previous posts, especially following the progress of your lovely blue charity quilt. Very inspirational!
Late or not, you have shared some beautiful images! I love the vivid color of your gerbera daisy, and the way you have off-centered the center. I do think the bug adds interest to the composition. And your kiwi is making me hungry (it's almost lunchtime, but is also a lovely, vivid image and a good choice!
Beautiful Linda...you take such great macro shots..I'm still learning. I especially love the Hot Pink flower photo...just gorgeous. Just wanted to thank you too for your comment on my "selfie"...totally unlike me to put a photo of myself up but decided to try and take a decent photo, put some good make-up on which I never wear...usually and most always it's "what you see is what you get" with me. But hey...I guess at some point you gotta' cave in and roll with the rest of the bunch...and I knew in a few months when I turn 69 it can only go downhill from there. :) Hugs...Kathy
great images for the macro challenge
The bug makes the picture perfect! I love it! Your kiwi picture is great too. I love that the seeds are in focus.
That kiwi and gerbera daisy are such a punch of color! It's been funny how many of us have captured bugs in our flower photos! I guess that means they're doing their job and pollinating them. Thanks for sharing with us!
Flowers really are perfect for getting up close, but I like your kiwi shot too. Very creative.
