I'm Back...

I'm back! My rather lengthy absence was not planned and it has lasted too long. If you are a blogger
who has ever taken a break, you know that the longer you are "away" the harder it is to get back. But I am determined to get back to regular posting. I certainly have lots to share with you and now that spring seems to finally be here, I'll be getting out with my camera much more than I have through the winter.
As I said my break was unplanned. Sometimes life just gets busy, and throws a little more at you than you would like. Several close friends have been facing very serious health challenges, and too many friends have lost siblings and parents in the last six months. My sister-in-law lost both her parents in the last little while; they lived directly behind us and have been our neighbours for 27 years. It seems odd to look out at night and see their place in darkness.
I find that sometimes life's challenges take their toll and sap my energy so something has to "give" and it was my blog. But as I said, I'm determined to be back here much more regularly. Blogging does take a lot of time, not just in the writing, but also the photography, editing photos, etc. My fav site for photo editing (Picmonkey) is no longer free so I must find another to use. I would welcome  any suggestions.
Winter as always seemed much too long, and spring was slow to arrive. My city has just experienced devastating flooding. We are safe, high and dry on a hill, but others have not been so lucky. So many have flooded basements, or flooded permanent homes or summer homes. Some summer cottages have literally floated away! It's been terrible; the cleanup will be a very long process. Life can certainly be challenging at times, can't it? My life continues to be very busy but I do hope/plan to keep up with more regular blogging... Give me some encouragement with a comment now and then, will you?

Peace,
Linda

Life is like a camera... Focus on what's important, Capture the good times, Develop from the negatives, And if things don't work out, Take another shot.

Welcome back, Linda! You were missed. ♥
I use Picasa for editing my photos. When it stops working, I might try FastStone which is said to remind Picasa. I haven't ever tried it though.
Happy spring days to you and yours!

Hello there! So sorry for the reasons that have kept you away. Photoscape is a free editing program that I like, but it requires a download.

Honestly, 2018 has not been kind to some of us at all! The weather has been horrific and we have had quite a bit of tragedy as well. So sorry for your troubles, I can certainly sympathize! Hopefully, the weather and life’s dramas will improve...

Welcome back, Linda! I read about the floods and hoped you were safe. Sorry to hear about your friends and family's problems, sadly it seems to be happening more and more these days.

Hi!!! I use PhotoShop Elements which I've had forever. Awhile back the MS10 updates disabled my PSElements, and I got in the habit of just using my phone camera and Pixlr app (free and user friendly). MS10 finally stopped messing with Photoshop, but in the meantime I've gotten lazy. :)

If you're taking requests, I think we need an update on Noah. :)

I am delighted to see your latest blog post. It has always been one of my most favourite blogs. Stories, recipes, photos, book reviews, quilting, and countless other items make your blog so very interesting. I, for one, appreciate very much the time and effort which you put into your blog. I. So happy your back.

Nice to have you back in blogland . I am so sorry to hear about your friends and family's health problems and losses it never gets easier does it ?! I hope all the waters have receded for all there and they all can get back to normal , Glad your house was safe , We had bad floods a few months ago in a warm spell and lots of rain and snow melting in our valley near our river and our neighbors who are right by our river were all flooded out like you we are on higher ground so was spared . I have Photoshop and Lightroom I use and yes I pay for Pic monkey but it is only $60 a year and I use that more than my other programs so it pays for its self in the end for me anyways . Hope you find a program that works for you . Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend !

Welcome back, my friend! It *IS* hard to get back to blogging after a break, I have had the same experience. FB makes us lazy - it's so easy to share posts, or write 12 words with a picture. Not the same thing at all as blogging, where we put more of ourselves into it.
Love the quote you closed off with. (and as mentioned in another comment, we'd love some more Noah pictures :))

Oh you WERE missed and I'm glad you are back. I missed your flower, stitching and recipe posts. 2017 was a difficult year for a lot of people. We went to a funeral in each month of the year as my husband's life long friends became ill and left us. I suppose you just have to accept it when you reach these "senior" years.

So welcome back.
xx, Carol

Welcome back!!! As someone who has been living a "life interrupted" I understand. I have had more than my share of unfortunately events, to put it mildly. Is this a part of the aging process? I try to live every day grateful and cherish the help and support of my friends. Thank you for being on the top of my list. Love you and miss you.

Life has a way of reminding us who REALLY is in charged, doesn't it? So sorry to read about the losses. Praying for peace and strength for their loved ones.

I'm happy you are back and look forward to hearing and seeing more of your handsome little guy.

Welcome back!
