A Place in the Sun...

No, I'm not talking about the Academy Award-winning 1951 movie starring Liz Taylor and Montgomery Clift...nor am I telling you I'm heading to a sunny beach on a tropical isle.... Well, I AM heading south tomorrow, but more about that later...
No, I'm talking about Ollie's place in the sun.. he follows the sun around the house all day and luxuriates in the pool of warmth wherever he can find it. No matter that I am trying to layer and pin a quilt on the kitchen floor - if the sunshine is there, he figures the spot is his! So here he is this afternoon, sunbathing on top of the quilt that I was trying to get pin-basted. He is SUCH a helper.... not! I now have the quilt half quilted, hoping to have it all finished and bound for Guild this coming week.... SO stay tuned for a pic in a few more days.
Just wanted to give a quick update to those of you who may have been following Mark's Blog about his trip across the USA - he has not posted for over a week now. No he did not fall into the Grand Canyon, or disappear forever into the back rooms of the Vegas casinos. He has just been having too much fun to take time to blog! The tour has now ended, and he has been in LA for a few days. If all goes well, he flies home tomorrow, so I'll be off to Bangor (that IS south, isn't it?) to meet his late night flight. I plan on taking my sewing machine with me, and doing some more on this quilt at the hotel while I wait for his flight... Hopefully he will finish off journaling his trip on his blog, but that may take a few days. I expect he's going to do nothing but sleep the first few days home.

Peace,
Linda

Now that's dedication - taking the quilt and sewing machine along on your trip to finish. Great picture of Ollie, cats are such great helpers!

Don't you just love having motivation to get a project done. I'm looking forward to your pics of show and tell on the blog.

That trip of Marks was awesome for a young man. He saw in a month, what it's taken me YEARS to see. And he saw more than I did.... So nice.

Yeah, my Misha does the same thing! So going to Bangor huh? Spending all day in the hotel sewing, huh? I don't think so!! LOL! Not with several quilt shops and a Joanne's in the area LOL! Have a great trip "south" :)

Shelley, I did NOT say I was not going shopping! But the quilt shops are not open on Sunday, and stores close at 5, I believe. So from then until it's time to go to the airport, I will be sewing. Shop in afternoon, sew in the evening.. sounds good to me... I had hoped to be to the binding stage by now, but I'll still be quilting. Binding is all ready- maybe I'll get it on too if I'm lucky...

How do you get all that stuff through customs, do you have a declaration card for all your sewing stuff?

Yes Sandra, I have a declaration "green" card for my sewing machine, Ott desk light and iron. Originally I did it for taking classes in Maine at their big Show in the summer. Comes in very handy. I am home now, customs didn't bat an eye at my machine case in the backseat...

Hi Linda, I just found your blog after a comment on Family Tree May Contain Nuts asking for the Proud Canadian Blogger button. I follow Jen of Muddy Boot Dreams and she directed me to that blog. Just thought I'd say Hi as I live near Freddy. I'm not a quilter but sure do admire the beauty of them. I know many of the Keswick Ridge quilters. Have a great day. Pamela

Ollie looks like he's loving life!

And that is one thing that cats love ... soaking up the warmth of the sun ... wherever they can ... albeit on your quilt that you happen to be working on! They will claim it as their own ... and not a thing you can do about it ... except smile ... then shoo him off! Ollie & Kota would be such good friends!

Hugs ... Marie

Lovely design and colours of your beautifully looking quilt! I can definitely relate with your cat story as we have two of them & they love to be on stuff that I put on the floor to work on :)
